This article gives an overview of the Large File Send functionality within Mimecast for Mac, and is intended for use by Mimecast for Mac users. It also covers how to request Large Files, how you can see the progress of Large Files currently being sent, and how to manage Large Files.
Prerequisites
- Continuity is enabled for your Account.
- Compose has been enabled by your Administrator, via Mimecast Administration Console | Users & Groups | Applications, to ensure that you can compose a message.
Considerations
Mimecast for Mac only supports Large File Send on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or lower.
Sending Attachments using Large File Send
You can send attachments using Large File Send by using the following steps:
- In the Mimecast for Mac application, click on the Compose a new email button.
- Click on the LFS button to ensure that any attachments added to the email will be sent using Large File Send.
- Select the Paperclip icon to launch a file browser and select the file/s that you wish to attach to your message.
- When your message is ready to send, click Send, and the Large File Send Preferences dialog is displayed.
- Either click Send to use the defaults defined by your administrator, or edit the available settings to suit your requirements.
Your administrator may have enforced some or all of these settings, meaning you cannot override them yourself.
- While your attachments are sending, you can click on the Show Progress button in the toolbar to access Large File Send Progress and Pause, Resume, or Cancel sending at a file or message level.
- Once the Large File Send message has been sent successfully, you will see a notification.
Requesting Large Files
You can request Large Files to be sent to you by using the following steps:
- In the Mimecast for Mac application, click on the Compose a new email button.
- Click on the LFR button.
- Add the recipients and a message body.
- Click the Send button. The Large File Receive Preferences dialog is displayed.
- Either edit the available settings to suit your requirements or use the defaults defined by your administrator.
Your Administrator may have enforced some or all of these settings, meaning you cannot override them yourself.
- Click on the Send button.
- Once the Large File Request message has been sent successfully, you'll receive a notification.
You can click on both the LFS and LFR buttons in the Compose screen to both send and request Large Files at the same time.
Large File Send Manager
You can access the Large File Send Manager by using the following steps:
- In the Mimecast for Mac application, click on the Large File Send icon in the toolbar and select the Large Files Manager option to launch the feature.
- The Large File Send Manager displays a list of all the Large File Send messages that you have sent, including the message's expiry date.
- You can use Set Expiry (to extend) or Expire the messages from this view, and also view the number of times a message has been accessed.
