This article describes how to resume a stalled job and handle failed migration items with Simply Migrate.
At times, items may fail during migration; sometimes, these are permanent errors that cannot be reprocessed. Other times, there will be items that fail due to loss of connection, SQL timeouts, or even after a fix has been developed for a particular error. In these cases, you will want to resume the job.
There are 2 ways to resume jobs and items: by resuming an entire batch job to be reprocessed or by resuming a specific job.
Resuming a Batch Job
To do this, complete the following steps:
- Navigate to Management and Reporting.
- Click on the Green hamburger icon (to the right of the batch you want to resume).
- Select Retry exceptions.
This will then open a new window with two available options.
-
Reprocess ALL the failed items:
It is recommended to check this box only if all items have been processed (in short, there should be no remaining items left for that job). More details can be found under the guide on understanding failure thresholds. -
Reprocess Mimecast Folder data:
This will be used if you have a folder structure failing and need to be re-tried; this option should only be used if you are having failures with the metadata processing.
- Once you have selected the appropriate options, click the Resume button on the screen, and all jobs in this batch will be added to the queue.
Resuming Specific Job
The second option available is to resume a specific job. To do this:
- Navigate to the job you would like resumed by clicking on its JobID in the UI or typing in the JobID in the Jump To box at the top right of the screen.
- Once on the job, navigate to the Errors tab and click on the 3 dots icon on the right of the Red bar; this will drop down a Resume Job option.
- Once you select Resume Job, you will see the same pop-up box as when you resume all jobs in a batch.
- Select your options to Reprocess ALL failed Items and/or Reprocess Mimecast Folder Data.
- click Resume, and that job will be added to the queue to be re-processed.
