Mimecast Synchronization Engine - Installation & Upgrade Guide

This article describes installing the Mimecast Synchronization Engine (MSE) client software. Before proceeding any further, ensure you have read and understood the previous step detailing the Prerequisites for your installation environment.

Installation

Follow the steps below to install the Mimecast Synchronization Engine (MSE) client software:

  1. Download the Mimecast Synchronization Engine client software from the Application Downloads page.
  2. Run the Setup.exe file with Administrator privileges on the target machine.

  1. Click Next to proceed with the installer.

  1. Read and Accept the End User Licence Agreement.

  1. Click the Next button; the installer will then begin verifying some components.

  1. Enter a folder path to record State and Log files; this can only be done during a clean installation.

  1. Click Install.

  1. Click Finish to confirm the installation process is complete and exit the installer.

Upgrade

Follow the steps below to upgrade your existing Mimecast Synchronization Engine (MSE) client software:

  1. Download the Mimecast Synchronization Engine client software from the Application Downloads page.
  2. Run the Setup.exe file with Administrator privileges on the target machine.

  1. Click Next to proceed with the installer.

  1. Read and Accept the End User Licence Agreement.

  1. Click the Next button; the installer will then begin verifying some components.

  1. Click Next again to proceed with the upgrade.

  1. Once the upgrade is complete, click OK and Close to exit the installer.

  1. This completes your MSE client upgrade process.

Next Steps

Once successfully installed/upgraded, your next step is to bind this installation to a site within the Administration Console.
