Mimecast Customer Care - Product Life Cycle

This article contains information on Mimecast's product life cycle policies, including life cycle phases, application status, end-of-life notifications, and security-driven changes to support optimal IT infrastructure management. It is intended for Administrators.

Mimecast strives to continually innovate and evolve its solutions to provide customers with richer functionality, more robust products, and the security and resilience that the ever-changing threat landscape demands. To achieve these objectives, certain versions of Mimecast's software must, by default, reach their end of life. Our product life cycle policies, as outlined below, are designed to help customers more effectively manage their IT infrastructure and plan their upgrades, to ensure that solutions, protections, and investments are continuously optimized.

Life Cycle Phases

Product Life Cycle

  • Mimecast will provide code-level maintenance in the form of minor versions or hotfixes to resolve issues or when new functionality is added to the product. Mimecast customers may be required to upgrade to a minor version to receive continued support.
  • The security of Mimecast software is reliant on the security of the underlying operating system. Operating systems that have reached mainstream End of Life from their providers are not supported.
  • Once a product or version release reaches its End of Life date, the product/version will no longer be supported by Mimecast, and may not be operable and/or communicate with Mimecast (End of Life).
  • Take note of the End of Life dates below to anticipate any required actions.

Notification Periods

Whenever possible, Mimecast will provide notifications 6-12 months before End of Life (6 months for version End of Life and 12 months for product/full application End of Life).
However, there may be occasions where this is not possible. Mimecast will publicize relevant dates for the progression of a product through its product life cycle via service updates and updates to this page.

Security Driven Change

Security-driven change will be delivered as the need arises for vulnerabilities as well as security enhancements. Customers will be provided with as much notification as possible based on Mimecast's assessment of the perceived risk.
