This article contains information on creating and managing schedule definitions for Mimecast Synchronization Engine tasks, including considerations, creation, modification, and deletion processes for effective task scheduling.
Schedule Definitions are required to determine when and how often a Mimecast Synchronization Engine (MSE) task should run. A single Schedule Definition can be used for one or more tasks and allows complete flexibility to meet the business requirement for a given feature.
Considerations
- If the definition is part of an active MSE task, it cannot be deleted until the task itself has been removed.
- When editing schedules are applied to an active Mimecast Synchronization Engine, the changes will be applied within two minutes, and the task will be rescheduled to apply the new settings. The only exception is if the task runs while you make the change. In this instance, the new settings will be applied once the execution completes.
Creating a Schedule
To create a Mimecast Synchronization Engine schedule:
- Log in to the Mimecast Administration Console.
- Select either:
-
- Services | Exchange Services menu item.
- Services | File Archive menu item.
- Click on the Schedules drop-down in the menu bar.
- Click the New Schedule button.
- Enter a Description.
- Select the Schedule Type. For each schedule type, different settings are available. The available options are:
| Type | Additional Options | Description |

| One-Off | One-Off Date & Time | Enter a specific date and time you want a Synchronization Engine task to run. |
| Daily | Schedule Type | Select "Once" or "Many," depending on the frequency required. |
| Start Time | Set the start time. | |
| End Time | Set the end time. This is only available if "Many" is selected in the schedule type. | |
| Interval (Minutes) |
Set the interval in minutes for the recurring schedule. This is only available if "Many" is selected in the schedule type. | |
