Overview

Mimecast is pleased to announce enhancements to the Scanning Modes that are available to new customers. Administrators can now select a new Threat Scan option during their setup process.

What's changing

As part of our continuous improvement, we have introduced a new Threat Scan Only scanning mode to allow customers to trial Email Security Cloud Integrated in their environment without changing mail transport rules. This new mode can be selected during the setup process and is the recommended option when initiating a trial. Once the threat scan has been completed, the option to upgrade to Monitor or Protect mode will become available.

See the table below for a breakdown of the scanning modes available:

Threat Scan Only
(Recommended for new users)
Monitor
(Recommended for those first upgrading)
Protect
(Recommended for those familiar with Threat Scan Only & Monitor modes)

Recommended for all new installations and trials

  • Users and Groups will be imported.
  • The last 30 days' mail will be scanned to detect threats.
  • Threats identified can be remediated.

Newly upgraded accounts to Protect & Monitor modes should default to this first.

  • Users and Groups will be imported.
  • New threats will be detected but still delivered to end-users.
  • No banners will be displayed on emails.
  • URLs within emails will not be rewritten.
  • Administrators can choose to be alerted when a policy is triggered.
  • The relationship between the sender and recipient will be tracked and displayed.
  • Access to new statistical widgets on the Home page.
