Recent and future changes to Mimecast Administration Console
Why have we updated the Mimecast Administration Console?
Why did we remove the internal application tabs?
The internal tabs within the Mimecast Administration Console were built on very old technology that restricted our ability to deliver new features and updates. Removing the tabs was a necessary first step in evolving the whole of the administrator experience.
Modern browsers natively (and via plugins/add-ons, etc.) have far more advanced support for tabs than we had in the Mimecast Administration Console, e.g., Tab Groups, Tab pinning.
If you have administration workflows or specific areas of functionality that have been negatively impacted by the removal of the internal tabs and that are not addressed by native browser functionality, please read our Feedback Overview Policy and create a feedback item or upvote an existing item.
What are the benefits of the new Menu?
What’s next?
We are continuing to improve the Mimecast Administration Console experience, taking your feedback into account. We will soon be moving applications from the App Switcher into the left-hand menu to provide a more consistent experience across different services. Initially, the applications will present exactly as today, but as each application is updated, we will look to fully integrate them into the new experience.
We are also reviewing some of the high-traffic areas of the Mimecast Administration Console, with a view to updating these specific areas.
All of the above updates will use consistent components, workflows, and patterns, which will provide a familiar ‘look and feel’ across Mimecast products.
