SMS Dashboard - Guide

This article contains information on accessing and using the SMS Services Dashboard in Mimecast, including monitoring SMS activity, verifying phone numbers, managing SMS configurations, and understanding SMS statuses.

If your package includes a subscription to the SMS (Short Message Service) Services Dashboard, you can then access the dashboard to display a graphical summary of recent SMS activity on your account. It allows administrators to monitor SMS activity, view SMS information, and set up/change SMS configuration.

Accessing the SMS Services Dashboard

  1. Log in to the Mimecast Administration Console.
  2. Navigate to Services | SMS Dashboard.

  1. The dashboard is split into the following sections:
    • SMS Messages per Day: Displays the number of successful and failed SMS messages sent daily over the last 14 days. Hover over the bar graph to display more information.

    • Last 10 Active Messages (Last 14 days): Displays a summary of the last 10 active messages by user's primary email address, mobile (cell) number registered, the SMS message type, the last update time for the message, and the current status. Specifying Cell Phone Numbers

Cell phone numbers must be stored in the following format for us to be able to send SMS messages successfully:

+<country code><mobile number>

The table below table provides examples of correct and incorrect number formatting:

Correct Incorrect
+44-777-111-1111 0777-111-1111
+447771111111 44-77-71-11-11
+1(555) 111 1111 (0) 5551 111 111
+1.555.11.11.111 1-555-111-1111
+1-555-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 1.555.111.MIME
+44 (0) 77 71 11 11 11 (UK) 777 111 1111

Mimecast strips brackets, periods, dashes, and spaces when processing messages.

SMS Status

Below is a list of the meaning of each status:

  • Queued : Has not been sent to 3rd party SMS service yet.
  • Sent-Awaiting Verification : Sent, but awaiting confirmation from 3rd party.
  • Sent-Verified : Confirmed delivery from 3rd party.
