Configuration - Repair, Reinstall and Removal

This article contains information on repairing, troubleshooting, and uninstalling Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated, including steps for re-installation and considerations for maintaining mail flow rules.

Repair Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated Installation

In a situation where your installation of Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated is broken, you can reinstall Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated within Microsoft 365, by using the following steps:

  1. Log in to Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated.
  2. Navigate to Integrations | Service Authorizations.

  3. Click on Settings.
  4. Click on Reinstall Email Flow.
  5. Review the "Reinstall Email Security, Cloud Integrated?" warning message.

  6. Click on Reinstall.

We will provide process information during re-installation, using the Integrations | Service Authorizations and Home pages.

Once complete, your Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated mail flow rules will be restored.

Considerations

  • If rules have previously been adjusted, the reinstall will update the order of the rules installed.
  • If Protect Internal Email is not installed on the account, it will be installed as part of the reinstall.
  • The Protect Internal Email mail flow rule configuration will be changed to treat all messages as internal.
  • No scanning of historical email will take place as part of the reinstall process.
  • Only one installation can be performed at any one time.

This feature only affects the reinstallation of the Mimecast Enterprise Application, Connectors and Mail Flow rules found within Microsoft 365. No policy or administrator account changes are made to your account.

Troubleshooting

You can re-attempt the re-install if the re-install fails, or contact your Mimecast partner or Mimecast support for assistance.

Uninstalling

Should you need to uninstall Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated, please follow the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Exchange Admin Center | Mail flow | Rules and delete all Mimecast created rules.
  2. Navigate to Exchange Admin Center | Mail flow | Connectors and delete the From Mimecast and To Mimecast connectors.

  1. Navigate to Azure Active Directory Admin Center | Enterprise Applications and delete all Email Security Cloud Integrated related Enterprise Applications. 

Once completed, Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated will be uninstalled.

Uninstalling Threat Scan Only 

If you have utilized the Threat Scan only option in Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated, you would only need to remove the Enterprise Application, or consent as outlined below:

  1. Navigate to Azure Active Directory Admin Center | Enterprise Applications.
  2. Delete all Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated related Enterprise Applications.
