Overview

Mimecast is listening to customer feedback and, as a result, is taking action on the points outlined below to improve the user experience for all Email Security Cloud Gateway customers.

Internal application tabs 

The internal tabs within the Mimecast Administration Console were built on older technology that restricted us on how we could deliver new features and updates. Removing the tabs was a necessary first step in evolving the administrator experience.

Modern browsers natively (and via plugins/add-ons, etc.) have far more advanced support for tabs than we had in the Mimecast Administration Console, e.g., tab groups and tab pinning.

The internal app page refresh button - NOW LIVE!

This was removed as part of the older technology, restricting us. We are listening to the feedback from our customers and looking into ways to provide similar functionality for specific use cases. This work is in progress; the estimate for a resolution is the week ending July 7th, 2023.

Mimecast Administration Console inaccessible from mobile devices - NOW LIVE!

The old Mimecast Administration Console could be accessed from some mobile devices with large screens. This was disabled when the new navigation was launched; this restriction on accessing the Mimecast Administration Console will be reverted on June 30th, 2023.

This has improved access to mobile devices. Users with smaller devices may need to zoom in to access the Hamburger icon hiding the Menu.  We are investigating how we can improve on this.

Further updates have now been deployed that enable access to the 'hamburger' icon on small-screen devices.

To see more of the Administration Screen, users with smaller devices should hide the Menu by clicking the Hamburger icon:
This will also allow a full log to be viewable on a PC or Laptop browser screen (for example, to see all columns in the Attachment Protection log).
We are investigating how we can improve on this.

 

Ingestion Management is unavailable from the App Switcher - NOW LIVE!

Ingestion Management will be added back to the App Switcher, on June 30th, 2023.

Connect App is unavailable from the App Switcher - NOW LIVE!

Connect App is estimated to be available from within the App Switcher, by July 7th, 2023. The Connect App is still available from My Apps.

Favicon is missing - NOW LIVE!

The Favicon will be added on June 30th, 2023.

Other improvements being investigated

• Improved session management across tabs.
• Persisting the Menu state across sessions (Shown or Hidden). - NOW LIVE!
  • The visibility of the menu is now persisted when your browser is refreshed or a new tab/browser is opened.
• Supporting resizing the menu - NOW LIVE!
