The Mimecast Security Agent for Windows 1.10 includes multiple security improvements. As a result of these changes, the following will occur:
- On upgrade, the agent will reinitialize itself. You may notice this briefly in the Tray Icon.
- Users that have manually logged in will need to do so again. Transparent User ID users are unaffected.
- Attempting to perform a Managed Update will now be subject to a UAC prompt. Users will need to enter administrator credentials if prompted.
- It may take up to 5 minutes to display the correct Agent Updated On date in the Protected Devices list.
New Features:
- Transparent User ID: Adds support for Azure AD Joined devices.
- Platform: Adds support for Windows 11.
Improvements:
- Agent Services: Improvements made to the log data and crash dump handling.
- Transparent User ID: You can now select which AD attribute the user’s email address is retrieved from - Mail or userPrincipalName this applies to On-Prem AD configuration.

FIPS: The agent can now operate in a FIPS compliant manner.
The Mimecast Security Agent for Windows 1.9 ships with a FIPS compliant version of OpenSSL 1.0.2, which is fully patched against all known CVEs except CVE-2021-23840, CVE-2021-23841 and CVE-2021-23839 which the agent is not vulnerable to.
Bug Fixes:
- Service: A bug preventing the user from re-enabling the protection via UI has been resolved.
- Protected Devices: DNS Server status is correctly updated in the Administration Console.

If you're upgrading from version 1.3 or less of the Mimecast Security Agent for Windows to 1.6, a reboot is required.

- Threat Remediation Support: Customers with IEP/Threat Remediation can use the agent to remediate saved or downloaded attachments from the user’s device.
Improvements:
- Windows Driver: Support for secure DNS updates, i.e ipconfig/regsiterdns request are now supported
- Protected Devices: To delete the authentication key, you’ll require Super, Full or Partner administrator roles.
