Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.13 for Windows

Improvements:

• Agent Service: Some of the third-party libraries have been upgraded.

Bug Fixes:

• Agent Service: Improvements have been made to prevent DNS connections from being dropped.
• Server: The DNS container has been improved to prevent potential memory leaks.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.12 for Windows

Improvements:

• Agent Settings: Mimecast Security Agent for Windows now supports automatic updates. Mimecast Security Agent for Windows 1.10 or higher is required.

Bug Fixes:

• Transparent User ID: Permissions for Azure AD user discovery have been updated.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.11 for Windows

Improvements:

• Logs: Diagnostic logs have been improved, and the export user interface has been simplified.
• Agent Service: To improve security some of the agent services now run with lower privileges.
• Agent Service: Some of the third-party libraries have been upgraded.

Bug Fixes:

• Device Enrollment: Enrollment issues have been resolved in the most recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.3.1 for macOS - Maintenance Release

Mimecast Security Agent for Mac 1.3.1 only supports up to Catalina.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.10 for Windows

November 12, 2021

The Mimecast Security Agent for Windows 1.10 includes multiple security improvements. As a result of these changes, the following will occur:

•  On upgrade, the agent will reinitialize itself. You may notice this briefly in the Tray Icon.
• Users that have manually logged in will need to do so again. Transparent User ID users are unaffected.
• Attempting to perform a Managed Update will now be subject to a UAC prompt. Users will need to enter administrator credentials if prompted.
• It may take up to 5 minutes to display the correct Agent Updated On date in the Protected Devices list.

New Features:

• Transparent User ID: Adds support for Azure AD Joined devices.
• Platform: Adds support for Windows 11.

Improvements:

• Agent Services: Improvements made to the log data and crash dump handling.
• Transparent User ID: You can now select which AD attribute the user’s email address is retrieved from - Mail or userPrincipalName this applies to On-Prem AD configuration.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 2.0.1 for macOS - Hotfix

• Installer: If the certificate is already present in an MDM profile, the installer will skip the certificate installation process to prevent a user prompt.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.9 for Windows

Internal update takes this to 1.9

Windows 7 devices must be on the latest Service Pack and have the SHA-2 patches provided by Microsoft.

New Features:

• Direct IP Protection: For improved security, the Mimecast Security Agent for Windows can be used to block or monitor direct IP connections that occur without a known DNS request. See the Service Update for more information.

Improvements:

• Tray icon: Further improvements have been made to the front end process.

• FIPS: The agent can now operate in a FIPS compliant manner.

  The Mimecast Security Agent for Windows 1.9 ships with a FIPS compliant version of OpenSSL 1.0.2, which is fully patched against all known CVEs except CVE-2021-23840, CVE-2021-23841 and CVE-2021-23839 which the agent is not vulnerable to.

Bug Fixes:

• Service: A bug preventing the user from re-enabling the protection via UI has been resolved.
• Protected Devices: DNS Server status is correctly updated in the Administration Console.
• Windows Server: Device ID improvements for AWS hosted Windows Severs.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.3 for macOS

The Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.3 for Mac only supports up to macOS Catalina.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.7 for Windows

• IEP Threat Remediation: The Mimecast Security Agent can now Remediate Attachments directly from a Notify Incident containing a file hash.
• Agent Service: The Mimecast Security Agent disables
• DNS over HTTPS (DoH) on Chrome, Firefox and Edge web browsers.
• Agent Service: The agent and Mimecast now communicate using TLS 1.2 or higher.
• Installer: The MSI installer no longer prompts users to close running programs that use C++ resources.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.6 for Windows

If you're upgrading from version 1.3 or less of the Mimecast Security Agent for Windows to 1.6, a reboot is required.

New Features:

• Platform: Support for Windows Server, RDS (Multi-Users) and Server Protection modes.
• Threat Remediation Support: Customers with IEP/Threat Remediation can use the agent to remediate saved or downloaded attachments from the user’s device.

Improvements:

• Windows Driver: Support for secure DNS updates, i.e ipconfig/regsiterdns request are now supported
• Protected Devices: To delete the authentication key, you’ll require Super, Full or Partner administrator roles.
• Agent Settings: The “Download for PC” button has been renamed to “Download for Windows”.
• Agent Settings: Uninstaller password protection is now optional for Windows, requires 1.6 or higher.
• Transparent User ID: Timing improvement has been made to the user discovery process.

Bug Fixes:

• Windows Server bug fix: Disconnected users are now reported in the Activity Report and Protected Devices.

• 1.6 (build 230) was re-uploaded with this fix.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.5 for Windows

April 1, 2020 

If you're upgrading from version 1.3 of the Mimecast Security Agent for Windows to 1.5, a reboot is required.

 
New Features:

• Protected Devices: Introduction of the slide-in panel which holds information about hardware and software.
• Protected Devices: Super, Full and Partner administrators can now manually purge a protected device entry.

Improvements:

• Transparent User ID: Logic updated for better compatibility for retrieving a user’s email address.
• Windows Driver: Improvements have been made for better DNS handing and stability.
• VPN Support: Microsoft DirectAccess support.
• Installer: Now using the Wix installer instead of the Advance installer for better platform support.

Bug fix:

• Transparent User ID: Local domains take priority over Azure connected users when both are active on a device.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.3 for Windows

Improvements:

• VPN Support: The Mimecast Security Agent is now compatible with Cisco’s ‘AnyConnect’ VPN solution, where DNS requests are handled by the Security Agent even when on a VPN connection.
• Transparent User ID: The Mimecast Security Agent for Windows will now ignore the AD User Account's Disabled/Enabled flag. This ensures the user is always identified and will result in improved reporting and policy application.
• Windows Tray Icon: The Mimecast Security Agent for Windows tray icon UI has been improved to prevent duplication.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.2 for macOS

New Features:

• Activity Report: The Activity report will include the Private IP and Device names.
• Protected Devices: The Protected devices section will include the Private IP.
• Protected Device Detail: Show additional hardware and software information.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.2 for Windows

New Feature:

• Citrix VDI: The Mimecast Security Agent will now support 'Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops' v7 in persistent and non-persistent desktop configurations.
• Activity Report: The Activity report will include the Private IP and Device names.
• Protected Devices: The Protected devices section will include the Private IP.

Improvements:

• Transparent User ID: The Mimecast Security Agent will now support devices that are connected to Azure Active Directories only.
• Transparent User ID: Now supports Windows fast 'Switch User' feature.

Bug Fix:

• Mimecast Security Agent: Various small bug fixes.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.1.5 for Windows & macOS

New Feature:

• Agent Settings: Transparent User ID functionality removes the need for users to log into or interact with the security agent. 

Improvements:

• Protected Devices: Windows devices now generate a unique ID via Windows Publisher, ensuring that duplicate entries aren't created. (Windows only)

Bug Fix:

• 2-Factor Authentication: An issue preventing Windows users being able to log into the Mimecast Security Agent, using their 2FA credentials, has been resolved.

Mimecast Security Agent Version 1.1 for Windows & macOS

New Feature:

• Uninstaller protection: A password is now required to remove the Mimecast Security Agent from Windows/macOS devices.
• German language localization: The Mimecast Security Agent user interface can now be displayed in German.
