Continuity - Overview

This article contains information on configuring and managing a Continuity Monitor in Mimecast, including detection algorithms, inbound and outbound traffic monitoring, failure thresholds, and notification settings to ensure email continuity during disruptions.

Introduction

Downtime is a reality all organizations must face, whether email is on-premises or in a Cloud service, such as Microsoft 365

  • Mimecast Continuity lets you keep email flowing no matter what type of outage occurs, whether that be service disruption, natural disaster, or planned maintenance/migration. This ensures that your users to have continuous email access, and security policies are continuously applied throughout the outage, so operations keep running safely.
  • You can invoke a Continuity event using two methods:
    • Continuity Events can be configured manually.
    • Continuity Monitor can be configured to monitor for both inbound and outbound mail flow issues. This is purely for monitoring purposes.
  • Email and Archived messages are available to your users via our End User applications, Mimecast for Outlook, Mimecast Personal Portal, Mimecast for Mac, and Mimecast for Mobile.

Considerations

Mimecast Continuity does not support the New Microsoft Outlook for Windows. Please see Mimecast for Outlook - Preferences.
