This article describes how the Focused Mailbox can be turned off for end users to have access to the Mimecast Awareness Training content, and is intended for Administrators.
Introduction
Mimecast's phishing simulation mails may not appear in the Focused Mailbox folder, if you have this feature enabled.
Instead, they may be found in the Other mailbox folder, which may not achieve the necessary end-user visibility required for training.
Configuration
To ensure Mimecast Awareness Training content is seen by your end users as expected, it may be necessary to do the following.
- Turn off Focused Inbox. See Focused Inbox for Outlook.
- Create a Mail Flow Rule within Exchange Admin Center (EAC), setting a Condition for the Spam Confidence Level (SCL) to Bypass Spam Filtering for email coming from Mimecast's SMTP Addresses. See SMTP and URL Guide.
Create a Microsoft Mail Rule (On-Premise)
You can create a Microsoft Mail Rule, by using the following steps:
- Log in to Exchange Admin Center.
- Select Mail Flow | Rules.
- Click on the + icon.
- Select Bypass spam filtering...
- Give the Rule a Name.
- Select the Apply this rule if... drop-down and select The sender's domain is...
- Add the SMTP domains found in the SMTP and URL Guide article.
- Click OK.
- Ensure that the Do the following... action is set to Set the spam confidence level (SCL) to... and Bypass spam filtering.
- Set Choose a mode for this rule to Enforce.
- Set Match sender address in message to Header or Envelope.
- Click Save.
Create a Microsoft Mail Rule (Exchange Online M365)
You can create a Microsoft Mail Rule, by using the following steps:
- Log in to Exchange Admin Center.
- Select Mail Flow | Rules.
- Click on Add a rule.
- Select Create a new rule.
- Give the Rule a Name.
- Select Apply this rule if drop-down and select The sender's domain is...
- Add the SMTP domains found in the SMTP and URL Guide article.
- Click Save.
- Select Do the following drop-down and select Modify the message properties | set the spam confidence level (SCL) to Bypass spam filtering.
- Click Next.
- Adjust Severity (if needed), based on pre-existing rules that Stop processing more rules before this rule is considered.
- Click Activate this rule on to enable immediately.
- Set Match sender address in message to Header or envelope.
- Add Comments (if needed). We recommend adding this for future reference.
- Select Next.
- After Reviewing, select Finish.
