This article contains information on publishing a DMARC record in Cloudflare DNS, including step-by-step instructions for adding or editing the record, field configurations, and expected propagation time for DNS updates. DMARC Analyzer will aid you to generate your own custom DMARC record.
After generating your DMARC record you should follow these simple steps to publish your DMARC record into your Cloudflare DNS:
- Log in to Cloudflare.
- Navigate to the Websites page.
- Click on the Settings icon listed next to the domain you’d like to edit.
- Click on DNS settings
If you already see a record with the name "_dmarc", edit this record instead of creating a new record. This is important because you can't have multiple DMARC records.
- To add a new DNS record, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Add.
- Complete the fields as below:
- Type: Select TXT
- Name: "_dmarc"
- Value: Enter your custom DMARC Analyzer TXT record. You can find this when you log in to DMARC Analyzer and go to the DMAR Analyzer Setup page.
- TTL: Select Automatic
- To add your DNS record, click on the Add button.
- You should now wait some time before the first reports will start to arrive in DMARC Analyzer. This is due to DNS caching and the fact that the ISPs mostly send one report each day. This can take up to 72 hours.
