Mimecast Mobile - Installation

This article contains information on installing Mimecast Mobile, setting up passcode security, and using Apple TouchID for secure access, including step-by-step instructions and key security features.

Installing Mimecast Mobile

You can install Mimecast Mobile, by using the following steps:

  1. Download the application from the relevant App Store.

Mimecast Mobile for Android is no longer available for new downloads from the Google Play Store.
See End User Applications - Mimecast Mobile Android Support - Dec 2024 for further information.
You can download it via Mimecast Application Downloads, for the Operating Systems listed at Mimecast Mobile - Prerequisites.

  2. Open the Mimecast Mobile application.
  3. Enter your Email Address.
  4. Click on the Next button.

A Notification may be displayed to allow the application to access your device's contacts. These are not stored in Mimecast, and when composing emails, a list of the addresses will be shown. Mimecast does not store the Global Address List (GAL) of the organization.

  5. Add your Password. This can be:
      • Network (domain) password.
      • Mimecast cloud password.
  1. Select the appropriate Password Type.
  2. Click on the Login button. The Passcode dialog is displayed.

The Passcode is required each time the application has been inactive for the duration that has been configured by your Administrator.

  3. Complete your Six Digit Passcode and re-enter to confirm it. Once the Passcode is set up successfully, the Online Inbox will be presented.

You will need to configure a six-digit PIN when adding accounts.

Passcode Security

With passcode security:

      • Opportunistic interaction with the application interface is prevented.
      • All the accounts on the device will be removed if the Passcode is incorrectly entered five times.
      • If the Passcode is reset, all accounts are removed from the device and must be re-added.

Apple TouchID

TouchID may be used when accessing the application on iOS devices.

      • A passcode is still required
      • If Cancel is chosen when TouchID is enabled, the Passcode screen is displayed.
      • If TouchID verification fails on three attempts, the Passcode screen is displayed.
      • Failed TouchID verification does not count towards the failed Passcode count.
