This article contains information on publishing a DMARC record in Microsoft 365 DNS, including step-by-step instructions for adding or editing the record, implementing SPF and DKIM, and expected DNS propagation time. DMARC Analyzer will aid you in generating your own custom DMARC record.
After generating your DMARC record you should follow these simple steps to publish your DMARC record into your Microsoft 365 DNS:
- Log in to the Admin Center of Microsoft 365.
- Navigate to Settings | Domains
- In this menu, you can search, select, or add the desired domain for which you want to implement DMARC.
- You will be pointed to a page with instructions on how your DNS setting must be set up for your Microsoft 365.
If you already see a record with the name "_dmarc", edit this record instead of creating a new record. This is important as you can't have multiple DMARC records
- Use the instructions from Microsoft 365 on how to set up your DNS. Log in to your DNS provider and implement SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for the domain. Use our DMARC Record Generator to generate a personalized DMARC record.
- You should now wait sometime before the first reports will start to arrive in DMARC Analyzer. This is due to DNS caching and the fact that the ISPs mostly send one report each day. This can take up to 72 hours.
