This guide describes how administrators can configure Supervision rules. Before doing this, you need to have at least one lexicon and queue, unless you want to apply the rule to all messages.
Listing the Rules
To list your rules:
- Log in to the Mimecast Administration Console.
- Navigate to Archive | Supervision.
- Click on the Rules tab.
The list displays information about the rule's configuration and status, which is determined by its success or failure. The rule's statuses are:
- Successful: The rule has run successfully.
- Full: The queue associated with the rule is full and requires your attention.
- Warning: At least one error may have occurred on one or more mailboxes.
- Error: An error has occurred. Contact Mimecast Support to troubleshoot the issue.

You can continue without specifying a lexicon. If you do, all messages are reviewed with the results based on your chosen sampling.
- Click on the Next button.
- Specify the Review Queue to be used:
-
- Click on the Select Queue button.
- Select the required Queue. A search field allows you to look for a review queue name by entering a text string and pressing the Enter key.
Your escalation queue is attached to the review queue so doesn't have to be selected.
- Click on the Next button.
- Check that the rule's configuration is correct.
- Click on the Create Rule button.
Once the rule is created, it is automatically enabled. For a daily schedule, the sync will run once a day to collect the previous day's data, this can run at any time during the day (i.e., between 0:00 - 23:59), although, typically, the data is available in the morning. For weekly syncs, the same applies where it runs the day of the sync at any time; however, it is typically available from the morning.
Disabling / Enabling a Rule
When a rule has been created, it will be Enabled automatically. To enable or disable a rule:
- Select the rule from the list to display the Rule Details sidebar.
- Click on either the Disable or Enable button.
- Click Disable / Enable on the confirmation prompt. You will receive a confirmation notification stating the rule has been enabled or disabled.
