This guide covers the methods of searching for and filtering messages in the Supervision application.
Searching for Messages
The application's search allows you to type in search terms, and select whether to search on a specific part of a message's data. By default, all messages matching the search criteria are found, regardless of when they were received, or whether they have an attachment. However you can limit the search to messages:
- Within a specific time span.
- That have, or do not have, attachments.
- That have a specific attachment type.
To search for messages:
- Click inside the Search field.
- Type your Search Text.
- Select the specific part of a message's data to search for (e.g. subject, files, from / to address).
- Press the Enter key.
- Optionally click on the All Time button to limit the search to a specific time span.
The currently selected time frame is indicated by the colored bar. See the "Search Time Frames" section below for further details. - Optionally click on the Optional button to limit the search to messages with/without an attachment, or a specific attachment type.
The currently selected attachment type is indicated by the colored bar. See the "Search Attachment Types" section below for further details. - If you want to add further criteria, click again in the Search field.
- Select either:

- And Contains Another Term to search for the additional term as well as the first (an AND statement).
- Or Contains Another Term to search for either the first or additional term (an OR statement).
- Excluding Another Term to exclude the additional term.
- Repeat steps 2 to 6 as required.
- Press the Enter key to run the search.
Viewing a Message in a Separate Tab
To view a message in its own tab:
- Click on the Message in the list.
- Either:

- Use the Shift + Enter keyboard shortcut.
- Click on the
icon and select the Fullscreen menu item.
Search Time Frames
When selecting a time frame for the search, the following options are available:

| Last Year | Searches for messages up to one year from today's date. | |
| Last 5 Years | Searches for messages up to five years from today's date. | |

All Time | No time frame filter is applied, so all messages that meet the search criteria are included. This is the default option. |
| Custom | Allows you to specify your own time frame to filter the messages. This displays the Select Date Range dialog, from where you can:

Search Attachment Types
The following attachment type options are available within a message search:

Filtering Messages by Label
To display all messages with a specific label:
- Open the required Queue in the hierarchy.
- Expand the Label folder in the hierarchy.
- Select the required Label.
Alternatively, you can click the label in a message's preview pane. This find all messages with that label, regardless of their status.
Filtering Messages by a Status
To display all messages with a specific status:
- Open the required Case Review in the hierarchy.
- Expand the Message Review folder in the hierarchy.
- Click on the required Status folder in the hierarchy.
