  1. Using the Ingestion Management Dashboard, navigate to the Setup tab, select Partner (you should see your own Mimecast account code), and the administrator will see the ‘Download Mimecast Simply Migrate’ button in addition to the Copy Encryption Key and Download Location File buttons.
  • Encryption Key: unique to the specific account connection and is used to authorize ingestion.
  • Location File: essentially, it’s like an address of where the data needs to go within the Mimecast grid. This ensures that when you are ingesting the data, the data goes to the right place. This location file is the API's details.

  1. When you open the installer on your desktop, accept the terms of use and check the install dashboard. NOT run query wizard. Once the software is finished installing, click ‘Finish.’ There will be a prompt for Credentials; make sure you are using a local admin account and have access to the path from which the data is coming (PST / zipped EML file path).

Configuration

When Simply Migrate is installed, it needs to be configured, and sources need to be set up using the configuration wizard.

  1. The first step is to set up the database. There are the following two options to do this:
  •  Using MS SQL
  • Using My SQL
    • Opting for MS SQL
      • Enter the SQL Server name / instance you would like to use.
      • Enter the Database name (if this differs from the default SimplyMigrate).
      • Paste in a connection string into the Simply Migrate Connection String field if you have this ready.
      • Reminder: You will need to give the full SQL instance name that you see at the top of Microsoft SQL Management Studio. For example localhost\SQLname

Ensure the account running the Simply Migrate Dashboard Service has Read/Write access to the SQL Server.

    • Opting for MySQL
      •  If you have the connection string ready, paste this into the Simply Migrate Connection String field.
Alternatively if you do not have the string ready:
      •  Manually enter the My SQL instance name you would like to use (often this is ‘localhost’).
      • Manually enter the Database name (if this differs from the default 'SimplyMigrate').
      • Manually update the username and password in the Simply Migrate Connection String field (Uid=***;Pwd=***).

Ensure the account running the Simply Migrate Dashboard Service has Read/Write access to the My SQL Server.

Option b. Using MySQL:

  1. Download the Location File and copy the Encryption Key from the Mimecast Administration Console | Ingestion Management | Setup. Upload the Location File in the respective field under the Mimecast API Configuration section and paste the Encryption Key in the Decryption Key field. Click the arrow in the API base URL field, and the Mimecast API configuration results section will be automatically populated.

  1. No need to do a source configuration for self-service migration, as you will not need to configure the source if you are coming from PST or zipped EML (similar to step 2, just ignore and continue!).
