- Advanced: Punctuation marks excluding “*”, “?” and “~” are ignored, but only when they're preceded or followed by a space.

No Option Set: Where no "Simple" or "Advanced" option is defined, punctuation marks are included in the search meaning only exact terms are matched.
If a group of punctuation marks are used (e.g. "::::") they are treated as a single punctuation mark.

We escalated your query to our engineering team in an effort to address your concern. As a result, our engineering team provided the following response:
"Content examination can identify punctuation if you create a definition that looks for a phrase with punctuation. If you process the same phrase without the punctuation, it can be addressed accordingly. If they want to capture a phrase both with and without punctuation marks, they can accomplish that using regex."
