This article contains information on configuring preferences in Mimecast for Mac, including setting the default email composer, enabling automatic image loading in messages, and managing application updates for a personalized user experience.

You can access Preferences from the menu icon bar, or the main application dropdown menu:
Default Email Client Composer
You can select the default email client composer, by using the following steps:
- Open the Mimecast for Mac application, and ensure you are logged in.
- Navigate to Preferences.
- Select the General tab.
- Using the Compose Messages dropdown, select the default email client to be used when composing email in Mimecast for Mac:

- Mimecast for Mac (default)
- Apple Mail (if installed)
- Microsoft Outlook (if installed)
Automatically Load Images in Messages
You can select whether images are loaded in messages, by using the following steps:
- Open the Mimecast for Mac application, and ensure you are logged in.
- Navigate to Preferences.
- Select the Messages tab.
- Use the Automatically Load Images in Messages checkbox to select whether images are loaded automatically.
Check for Application Updates
You can configure application update details, by using the following steps:
- Open the Mimecast for Mac application, and ensure you are logged in.
- Navigate to Preferences.
- Select the Updates tab.
- Click the Check Now button to check for updates.
- To adjust the frequency of update checks adjust the value of the Automatically Check for Updates Every 1 Days option.
- To automatically install new updates check the Automatically Install Updates check box.
