Mimecast Mobile - Managing On Hold Messages

This article contains information on managing On Hold messages in Mimecast Mobile, including how to release, reject, report spam or phishing, and handle Moderated On Hold messages.

Overview

Your administrator may have policies in place that put messages On Hold in Mimecast. These could be based on spam, attachment, or content examination policies, designed to prevent unwanted emails from reaching your inbox. The Mimecast Mobile Personal On Hold view allows you to view the held messages, and decide if you want to release or reject them.

If you do not release or reject a message from the On Hold queue, it is automatically removed after 14 days. You will still be able to retrieve the message from the archive, if configured by your administrator.

Rejecting Messages

You can reject messages, by using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Personal On Hold in the main menu.
  2. Select one or more message(s).
  3. Select the Reject icon, then select one of the following actions:
    Menu Option Results
    Reject Email

Reporting Spam or Phishing

Reporting an item as spam or phishing automatically triggers the following actions:

  • The sender of the message is added to your Blocked Senders list.
  • The message is forwarded to the Mimecast Security Team for analysis.

You can report spam or phishing, by using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the message in the Mimecast Mobile app.
  2. Select the More "..." icon from the top right hand corner.
  3. Select one of the following menu items:
    • Report Spam.
    • Report Phishing.
  1. The sender is added to your Blocked Senders list, and your feedback is recorded.

Spam or junk messages are unsolicited messages, usually commercial in nature, that may also contain disguised links to malicious sites. Phishing messages typically direct you to visit a website where you're asked to update personal information (e.g. a password, bank account number) that the legitimate organization already has.

Moderated On Hold

The Moderated On Hold viewer works in the same way as the Personal On Hold viewer, but displays messages held for other users. For example, you may be able to manage held emails for a colleague or your manager. This functionality must be enabled by your Administrator, and by default, doesn't show any messages.
