Mimecast Account Assessment Report - Secure Email

This article contains information on Mimecast's Secure Email Gateway, including SMTP message processing, encryption, rejections, holds, malware detection, and attachment reporting, helping organizations proactively address email security threats.

 

Secure Email Gateway protects your organization's sensitive information from becoming vulnerable to malware, spam and phishing attacks. The report records trends in the threats you receive and helps you to become proactive in your approach to them.

SMTP Overview
The donut chart shows the percentage and number of Inbound, Internal and Outbound messages processed.
This bar chart shows the volume of messages processed by Mimecast per day, this includes the following messages:
  • Internal
  • Inbound
  • Outbound
  • Rejected
If a message is addressed to multiple recipients, each accepted recipient counts +1 to this report.
Inbound SMTP Overview
This donut chart displays the amount of Inbound Messages by Outcome that have been processed.
The bar chart shows the number of processed messages by day, including Inbound, Rejected and Held messages.

Inbound SMTP Encryption

These charts illustrate the volume of inbound messages accepted by Mimecast, prior to policy taking effect, grouped by TLS version, if used.

Top Non-TLS Sender Domains
This table shows inbound emails that are accepted by Mimecast without negotiating TLS. The final outcome on delivery may be impacted by policies configured on the account.

The highest ranking sender can be found at the top of this table.

Rejections
This donut chart records the volume of messages rejected by Mimecast alongside the rejection reasons. For a closer look into daily rejection figures, see the SMTP Overview charts.
Holds
This donut chart shows the total amount of messages that have been in the Held Queue over the reporting period. The percentage and number of held messages are accompanied by the 'hold reasons.'

Content Examination
The Content Examination table shows the policies that have resulted in a message being held. The number of held messages are grouped by the policy name.
Top Malware Detections
This donut chart measures the volume of messages rejected by Mimecast where malware has been detected.
If a message is addressed to multiple recipients, each accepted recipient counts +1 to this report.
Journaled Emails
This bar chart shows the amount of Journaled messages accepted by Mimecast and processed per day.
This report is subject to the journaling configuration that has been set up on your account.
Attachment Overview
At the top of this bar chart, the amount of attachments and the size of attachments (in GB) are totaled. The bar chart shows the size and number of file attachments processed by Mimecast per day.
Individual message body parts and embedded images are excluded. This includes all accepted attachments, both inbound and outbound. It also includes stripped and linked files as well as Large File Send attachments.
Top Attachment Types
This report provides a granular approach to the size of files processed by Mimecast, grouped by file types. The highest ranking attachment type can be found at the top of this table.
