Who's affected Message Control on-premises MTA service users

Overview

Effective May 28, 2024, Mimecast will be discontinuing support of the pre-Mimecast Message Control on-premises MTA service. Any customer still using this legacy service will need to update their CyberGraph and Microsoft Exchange configurations to correctly point to the Mimecast Cloud Gateway MTA for message processing.

Prior to the change from Message Control to Mimecast, customers were provided with a virtual image hosting the Message Control MTA. This allowed for message processing and sending to Message Control for customers using on-premises versions of Microsoft Exchange/Outlook. Following Mimecast's acquisition of Message Control, traffic was temporarily rerouted to Mimecast's CyberGraph implementation. As part of this transition, there have been efforts to ensure that customers are smoothly migrated to using the Mimecast Cloud Gateway MTA. However, if you have not been aware of this change, you will need to update your configurations accordingly.

What's changing

  • The pre-Mimecast Message Control MTA service will no longer be supported.

Recommended actions

Any remaining CyberGraph customers, who were formerly Message Control customers using the above on-premises MTA need to reconfigure their Microsoft Outlook traffic to correctly funnel CyberGraph processing through the Mimecast Cloud Gateway MTA.

Please contact Mimecast Support if further assistance is needed with reconfiguration.
