Leverage historical data to run reports by keywords and specific audiences to gain a better understanding of segments of employees and the people or topics that make up the workforce based on conversation Sentiment and Health Metrics.
Creating a custom report:
- Navigate to the Spotlight Application and then Custom Reporting in the sub navigation.
- Select the Create a Report button.
- Complete the information, define the name of the report and select report type.

- Topic Report: Create a report from keywords or phrases found in messages to gain insights around the topic or campaign important to you.
- Audience Report: Create a report from a group of users to gain a pulse of what's happening in your organization. No keywords necessary.
- Define the Report Scope.
Digest your Custom Report
- Click into the desired report.
- An overview of your Custom Report will display at the top.
- Continue to scroll through the report and you will get more detail on each section. All of which are exportable.
Unique Authors: Top contributing authors who have mentioned a keyword or audience group one or more times.
Sentiment Analysis: Total Sentiment Indicator over the searched period and then broken down by time and Source.
View Public Sentiment Anomalies: (Public content only, if enabled within search criteria) that contributed to the Mentions by Sentiment.
Once the link has been selected, a view will open up displaying the Public content that contributed to the sentiment breakdowns.
Reactions and Engagements
The Reactions and Engagements section only applies to the Workplace by Meta platform.
Private Group Reactions:
Included in Engagement Insights within Custom Reports.
Comments on Posts:
Displays the total number of comments on the posts in the message set, as well as the group that authored the greatest number of comments.
Seen By:
Displays the total number of times the post has been viewed/read by users.
Slack Reactions:
Slack users can view emoji reactions to messages when reviewing sentiment anomalies in Custom Reports. Emoji reactions are loaded by using a button that says, "Load Reactions". The Slack API will return a maximum of 50 count per individual emoji reaction per message. Today, you cannot see who reacted with the emoji.
Topic Reports ONLY:
Related Themes for this Report: When enabled, the processed Topic Report will return relevant keywords that are frequently used in conjunction with the defined keywords for the initial search. (If you want to dive deeper into a specific keyword, click on the word and then choose to explore more with a topic report).
Rerun you Custom Report:
To rerun a processed Topic Report, either select the ellipsis in the desired Topic Report or open up the desired Topic Report and click Rerun Report in the right-hand corner. Users will have two options:
- Quickly Re-run the report which will take all the same parameters from the original report, and re-run it through today's date.
- Modify and Re-run will take the user to the pre-filled created report page with all the same parameters from the previous report but gives the user the chance to edit. The end date will also be today's date.
Engagement Trends:
Within your Custom Report, scroll down to Engagement Trends. Here you will find trend data as it pertains to your topics - All sections are downloadable via the Export Data links found in the top right corner of each section (Total Mentions, Sentiment Analysis, Sentiment Indicator by source).
Topic Report Trends:
Keyword Distribution filters are available for users to intuitively compare how keywords are performing.

- Top Group by Messages: Top mention count by Group with a Sentiment breakdown. Hover over the Sentiment bar to display the breakdown values. This section is exportable via the download button found in the top right corner of the section.
- Top Content Author by Messages: Rank of the top Content Authors with a Source breakdown. Hover over the Source bar to display the breakdown values. This section is exportable via the download button found in the top right corner of the section.
