Overview
Mimecast is pleased to announce new Advanced BEC (ABEC) Policy configuration options for Email Security Cloud Integrated customers. This will allow Administrators to configure ABEC settings within email policies under the Phishing & Impersonation section. There is also a separate Monitor Mode toggle within the ABEC settings, allowing administrators to trial ABEC without the need to place their entire email policy in Monitor mode.
What's changing
- Administrators can configure ABEC settings within email policies under the Phishing & Impersonation section of CI. This includes the following options:
- Enable/Disable Advanced BEC: Enabling this option will enable the sensitivity settings listed below.
- Enable/Disable Monitor mode: Mimecast will scan and detect potential BEC threats, but no action will be taken. Detections will appear within the Administration Console under Detections.
-
Sensitivity settings include the following options:
- Relaxed: This setting is for organizations with a higher risk tolerance and may lower the number of BEC false positives.
- Moderate: This setting provides a balance between protection and the chance of false positives occurring. This is the recommended setting.
- Aggressive: This setting offers the highest level of protection from BEC emails but may result in more false positives.
- The toggle for Monitor Mode is available in the Advanced BEC settings section.
Recommended actions
Existing customers will have the current default ABEC configuration enabled on their accounts.
This configuration is as follows:
| Advanced BEC | Enabled |
| Monitor Mode | Disabled |
| Sensitivity | Moderate |
Administrators can make use of the new policy configuration options and Monitor Mode toggle as required.
