Overview
Mimecast is pleased to announce the integration of the Mimecast API with Microsoft Entra ID Protection. This helps organizations manage identity-based risks, detecting issues like anonymous IP address usage, password spray attacks, leaked credentials, and more.
What's changing
- The integration retrieves risk events generated by Microsoft’s Entra ID Protection package through the Mimecast API.
- It integrates with security platforms, such as Mimecast’s Human Risk Platform, providing security analysts with better visibility into identity-related attacks and enabling organizations to proactively respond to threats.
- Detects risks early, allowing customers to swiftly investigate any potential compromises.
- Exposes the threats and risks that your organization is currently facing.
- The integration is available to Engage on Cloud Gateway customers and requires specific administrative roles for configuration.
- Only users with specific admin roles (e.g., Global Sys Admin, Super Administrator, Full Administrator, or a custom role with Integrations Marketplace Read/Write enabled) can configure the integration
Please note that historical events will not be retrieved from Entra ID Protection; only events from the moment of integration onward will be processed. This approach simplifies onboarding, ensuring that we do not alter any historical attack factor scores that the admin may have already reviewed.
Recommended actions
Administrators must ensure they have the required specific administrative roles with read/write permissions for configuration. Please refer to the API & Integrations - Microsoft Entra ID Protection documentation for guidance on how to configure this.
