Configuring Journaling
Journaling is a crucial feature that enables the transfer of copies of all internal emails from your email servers to Mimecast. This process ensures that a comprehensive archive of all organizational emails is securely stored in a searchable off-site environment. By setting up rules, you can capture internal email communications, allowing inbound, outbound, and internal emails to be archived and processed through security policies.
For successful onboarding, it is important to ensure that pop-up blockers are disabled prior to starting the onboarding journey.

Microsoft 365
To set up Microsoft 365 Journaling with Mimecast, follow the instructions on the Configuring Microsoft 365 Journaling page.
On-Premises Exchanges
The configuration process for Journaling on an On-Premises Exchange depends on the type of exchange you use. Refer to the Journaling - Exchange Appliance Journaling for complete details.
Hosted Exchanges (HEX)
As Journaling is a standard Exchange feature, all Hosted Exchange (HEX) environments should support it. Typically, this requires creating a separate Organization Unit (OU) for each tenant. Once established, each tenant can configure their organization settings. The tenant administrator logs into the web console to set up a journal rule. Provide your hosting provider with the relevant instructions for your version of Exchange.
Google Workspace
To set up Google Workspace Journaling with Mimecast, follow the instructions on the Configuring Journaling for Google Workspace page.
Important Notes
Mimecast does not provide Journaling services for: Domino, Send Mail, MAC Mail Server, and Squirrel Mail.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your organization's email communications are effectively archived and compliant with your internal policies.
