In July 2023, Code42 notified you of the upcoming end-of-life for the Code42 legacy agent, which is scheduled for April 10, 2024. We would like to thank those of you who have already completed the agent modernization process. If you have already completed agent modernization, or do not have legacy agents in your environment, this notice does not apply to you.
If you haven’t gone through the agent modernization process, this notification is to alert you there are less than sixty days until the Code42 legacy agent will stop connecting to the Code42 cloud.
To view devices using the legacy agent, go to Administration > Environment > Devices. Click Filter, then select Legacy from the Agent type menu.
Preparing Your Environment
To help you complete agent modernization, Code42 will automatically update any active, eligible legacy agents on February 20, 2024. In addition, on March 20, 2024, Code42 will automatically opt in any remaining devices that you previously opted out.
What you need to do:
- Update permissions for the backup & insider risk agent for MacOS
- Update EDR/AV to align with best practices for the backup & insider risk agents
- Update Deployment Policies

- The Code42 legacy agent is no longer being updated with enhancements, bug fixes, or to support new operating systems.
- Legacy agents must be upgraded to receive support.
