Supported operating systems

Overview

This article lists the operating systems that Incydr supports and the anticipated date when support will end. 

Considerations

• Incydr supports agents running on computers whose operating systems are supported by their vendors. Incydr does not support its software on computers running an operating system that is no longer supported by its vendor, including operating systems past the end of vendor support receiving patches through an extended security update program.

• Incydr agent versions that are technically compatible may no longer be supported. For details about currently supported agent versions, see the Incydr agent version policy.
• Incydr regularly sends out email communications about changes in operating system support. For more information, see our supported operating systems announcements.

Insider risk agent

Supported operating systems

The following operating systems are currently supported for the insider risk agent.

Windows

The insider risk agent is supported on computers running Windows operating systems until the end of the Enterprise and Education editions support lifecycle. The Windows lifecycle is typically 18 months from the release date. For details on the support lifecycle for Windows, see Microsoft's Windows lifecycle fact sheet.

The insider risk agent is only compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows. 32-bit versions are not supported.

Mac

The insider risk agent is supported on computers running macOS until Apple no longer supports the operating system. Apple does not adhere to an official support lifecycle cadence. See Apple's macOS Support page for information on support for its operating systems.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Incydr supports the latest minor release for each supported major RHEL version after we have certified it to work with our software. For details on the support lifecycle, see Red Hat Enterprise Linux Life Cycle.

Ubuntu

The insider risk agent is supported on computers running Ubuntu operating systems until the end of Ubuntu's Long Term Support (LTS) lifecycle. The LTS lifecycle is 5 years from the release date. For details on the support lifecycle, see The Ubuntu lifecycle and release cadence.

Virtual desktop infrastructure

A virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) service provides a desktop operating system instance. Incydr supports running the insider risk agent on VDIs. Following are VDIs that Incydr has verified for use with the insider risk agent.

Previously supported operating systems

The following operating systems were previously supported for the insider risk agent, but are no longer supported.

Insider risk agent upgrades may be blocked on unsupported operating systems
If your computer runs an older version of an operating system that is no longer supported by Incydr, Incydr may block upgrade of the insider risk agent on the computer. To permit upgrade to the most recent insider risk agent, update the operating system on the computer to a supported version.

Backup agent

Supported operating systems

The following operating systems are currently supported for the backup agent.

Legacy agent end-of-life
On April 10, 2024, the Code42 legacy agent reached end-of-life. Devices with the legacy agent are no longer backing up, and Incydr monitoring has stopped. See our FAQ for steps to upgrade to a supported agent. 

Windows

Agents are supported on computers running Windows operating systems until the end of the Enterprise and Education editions support lifecycle. The backup agent is only compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows. 32-bit versions are not supported.

Version 11.0.4 of the legacy agent is the last version to support 32-bit versions of Windows. Later versions of the legacy agent are only compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows.

Mac

Agents are supported on computers running macOS until Apple no longer supports the operating system. Apple does not adhere to an official support lifecycle cadence. See Apple's macOS Support page for information on support for its operating systems.

Previously supported operating systems

The following operating systems were previously supported, but are now unsupported.

Agent upgrades may be blocked on unsupported operating systems
If your computer runs an older version of an operating system that is no longer supported by Incydr, Incydr may block upgrade of the agent on the computer. To permit upgrade to the most recent agent, update the operating system on the computer to a supported version.
