This article contains information on integrating Google Workspace (GWS) with Aware, including prerequisites, step-by-step instructions for setup, creating a GWS client, and troubleshooting common errors during the process.
Prerequisites
You must have access to a GWS administrator account and the GWS Administration Console, preferably using the Primary Administrator account.
Integrating Google Workspace with Aware
- Navigate to Settings | Integrations in Aware | Click the Google Workspace Connect button. This will begin the integration process consisting of several prompts.
Step 1: Initializing
- This step simply initializes the setup process.
Step 2: Enter the Required Information
You will be prompted to provide:
- Integration Name: The display name of your integration within Aware.
- Primary Administrator Email Address.
- Customer ID.
Both the Primary Administrator Email Address and Customer ID can be found in the GWS Administration Console | Account | Account Settings.
Step 3: Create a Google Workspace Client
You will be prompted to create a GWS Client in your Google Workspace Administration Console.
This client enables Aware to interact with your organization's Google Workspace environment.
Your integration will not work unless this client is created correctly.
Use the configuration values provided in step 3 within Aware:
To create the client:
- In the GWS Administration Console, navigate to Security | Access and Data Control | API Controls.
- Click Manage Domain-Wide Delegation.
- Select Add New to create new API Client.
- Paste the values provided by Aware (Client ID and OAuth scopes) into the new client modal.
Finalizing the Integration
- Return to Aware and select Verify and Save.
- If you encounter an error:
- Confirm that the values entered in Aware (Primary Administrator Email, Customer ID, etc.) are correct.
- Ensure that the GWS Client was created successfully with the correct Client ID and Scopes.
