Email Security Cloud Gateway - Archive Search & Export - Exporting Messages

Only Content Administrators are able to export.

This guide describes how to export all the messages from your search results to a file using Archive Search & Export in the Mimecast Administration Console.

How to Export All Messages

  1. Log in to the Mimecast Administration Console.
  2. Perform a Search. See the Email Security Cloud Gateway - Archive Search & Export - Archive Search page for full details.
  3. Click on the Export All button.

  1. Complete the Export All Messages dialog as follows:
Field / Option Description
Name Provide a name for the export.
Reason Enter a reason for the export (e.g. litigation detail).
Data Type

Select the type of data to be exported:

  • All Data: Exports the full message content and metadata
  • Metadata Only: Exports only the message information (e.g. sender, recipient, subject, date).
Export Format

Select the file format for the export. This can be PST or ZIP.

This option is only available if the Data Type field is set to All Data.

Metadata Format Specifies the output file format for the message metadata.
ZIP File Type

Select the compressed file format. This can be EML or EJF.

This option is only available if the Export Format field is set to ZIP.

Include BCC If selected, messages are included if they are added as BCC contacts.
Target Part File Size (GB) Specify a value in between 1 and 10 that controls the approximate file size of each part in gigabytes. 
Notification Specify an email address to be notified when the export is completed.

  1. Click on the Start Export button.
  2. Click on the Start Export button in the confirmation dialog.

How to Export Selected Messages

  1. Perform a Search. See the Email Security Cloud Gateway - Archive Search & Export - Archive Search page for full details.
  2. Select the relevant messages from the Search Results list.
  3. Click on the Export Selected button.

  1. Complete the Export Selected dialog as follows:
Field / Option Description
