Overview

Mimecast is updating the Mimecast Administration Console navigation to better reflect our evolving product portfolio in the Governance, Compliance & Insights space. The Archive menu is being renamed to Governance & Compliance and the page layout is being reorganized to provide a more intuitive navigation experience.

This update is purely a rebranding and reorganization of the navigation menu. There are no new features being introduced and no capabilities are being removed. All existing functionality remains fully available.

What's changing

Menu Rename

  • The left-hand navigation menu previously labelled Archive will now be called Governance & Compliance, with the title card displaying Governance, Compliance & Insights (GCI)
  • This change better aligns with our broader product offering in this space, which extends beyond archiving to include search, discovery, supervision, and compliance capabilities.

Page Layout Reorganization

The menu has been reorganized into three clear sections to help administrators find capabilities more easily:

  • Applications (Top): Primary applications for daily use Case Review, Aware (so Search & Discover, Signal, and Spotlight), Ingestion Management, Supervision Queue, Reviewer.
  • Administration (Middle): Configuration and management tools Exchange Sync & Recover, Journaling, Supervision Lexicon Rules, Search Logs, Synchronization Engine Sites, Exchange Services, IM Sync, Smart Tags, View Logs.
  • Legacy Capabilities (Bottom): Traditional archive functionality Archive Search, Saved Searches, Discovery Cases, Exports and Updates, Litigation Holds, Retention Adjustment.

Why We're Making This Change

  • This update aligns the Mimecast Administration Console with the products and capabilities you're using today. 
  • As our product suite expands beyond traditional archiving to encompass comprehensive governance, compliance, and insights capabilities, including Search & Discover, Signal, and Spotlight, the navigation needed to evolve to reflect this broader offering.
  • This reorganization also positions the Mimecast Administration Console to better accommodate future products and capabilities as they are introduced.

What's NOT Changing

  • No new features are being added as part of this update.
  • No capabilities are being removed: All existing functionality remains available.
  • Permissions are unchanged: If you can access a page today, you'll still be able to access it.
  • Workflows remain the same: All processes work exactly as before.

Recommended actions

  •  Familiarize yourself with the new menu layout.
  • Update any internal documentation or training materials within your organization that reference the "Archive" menu.
  • No configuration changes are required
