This article contains information on the User Portal, its capabilities, upcoming features, long‑term roadmap, access requirements, and participation in the Open Beta phase.
The Mimecast User Portal is a browser-based application designed to replace our existing End-User Applications, including Mimecast for Outlook, Mimecast Personal Portal, Mimecast Mobile, and Mimecast for Mac. Built as a Progressive Web Application (PWA), it provides users with secure access to their Mimecast services from any device, without the need to install a separate native application.
What the User Portal Provides
The Open Beta release delivers the User Portal with Email Archive functionality, and access to Online Inbox and Online Sent Items. This marks the foundation of the platform and provides the following functionalities:
| Functionality | Description |
| Archive Search | Search, view, and retrieve messages from your email archive, equivalent to what is available in Mimecast Personal Portal. |
| Device Support | Fully functional on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android using the latest stable versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. |
| Installable App | The User Portal can be installed as a PWA icon on your device for quick access, with no traditional software installation required. |
| Alongside Legacy Apps | The User Portal runs independently of Mimecast for Outlook, Mimecast Personal Portal, and Mimecast Mobile. These legacy apps will continue to work as normal. |
| End User Email Continuity | Online Inbox and Online Sent Items will allow users to send and receive email via the User Portal in the event of a Continuity event. |
| Calendar | The Calendar provides a read-only view of your synced Calendar data, allowing you to browse your appointments and meetings even when your primary email client is unavailable. |
What’s Next
Following the initial release, we will continue to add functionality to the User Portal in iterative phases. The immediate next phase focuses on:
Secure Messaging: Compose and manage secure encrypted messages directly from the User Portal.
Planned Future Capabilities
The User Portal is the long-term replacement for all Mimecast end-user Applications. The strategic vision is to deliver a single, modern platform that provides access to all current end user functionality, and enables new capabilities that were not possible with the previous application architecture.
Large File Send: Send and receive Large File attachments without email size limitations.
Gateway Features: Manage your Held Message Queue, Block lists, and Allow lists directly from the portal.
Branding: Support for the Mimecast Branding service.
Authentication improvements: Reducing user friction when accessing Mimecast services.
Access via MyApps and an Outlook add-in: Making it easier for users to access the portal.
Net-new functionality: As the platform matures, new features and improvements will be delivered iteratively.
How to Get Access
Access to the User Portal is controlled through Application Settings in the Mimecast Administration Console. The new Enable User Portal setting and the same settings used to manage the Mimecast Personal Portal.
The Mimecast User Portal is available at https://login.mimecast.com/eup, and users can navigate directly to it.
The portal can be deployed as an installed PWA via MDM/EMM solutions across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and ChromeOS.
For guidance on deploying the User Portal across your organization, see User Portal - Installing User Portal.
Participating in the Open Beta
The initial release of the User Portal is an Open Beta. All customers with access to Mimecast End-user Applications are able to enable access for their users during this phase. The Open Beta allows:
Real-world evaluation of the current Archive Search functionality.
The opportunity to provide feedback directly, helping to shape the direction and priority of future development.
Continued access to all legacy applications alongside the new portal, ensuring no disruption to existing workflows.
Feedback received during the Open Beta will directly influence subsequent releases and feature prioritization. Mimecast actively welcomes input from customers and end users during this phase.
