This article describes how to manage your inbox in the Mimecast User Portal. It covers accessing your Online Inbox and Online Sent Items, composing and forwarding messages, and checking the delivery status of sent messages.
Prerequisites
- Access to features is subject to your organization’s Mimecast subscription and configuration.
- If you are unsure whether a feature is enabled for your account, contact your Administrator.
Viewing Messages in Your Online Inbox or Online Sent Items
You can view messages in your Online Inbox or Online Sent Items folder by using the following steps:
- Log in to the User Portal.
- Select Inbox from the left-hand menu.
- Select either Online Inbox or Online Sent Items to display a list of messages from the last 30 days.
- Click on a message to open and read it.
The Online Inbox and Online Sent Items display emails from the last 30 days. To find older items, use Archive Search.
Accessing Your Inbox During a Continuity Event
The Online Inbox and Online Sent Items remain accessible during a Continuity event (for example, when your mail server is unavailable). You can continue to read, compose, and send emails without interruption.
Continuity access is subject to your organization’s Mimecast subscription. If you are unsure whether Continuity is enabled for your account, contact your Administrator.
Composing a New Message
Depending on your organization’s configuration, you may be able to compose new messages from the User Portal. If Compose is not visible, contact your Administrator to confirm whether this feature is enabled for your account.
You can compose a new email by using the following steps:
- Log in to the User Portal.
- Click on Compose.
- Add recipients, subject, and message contents as required.
- Click on Send.
Even without a Continuity package, Compose will still appear if your account has Secure Messaging or Large File Send enabled, as these features also use the Compose functionality.
Forwarding Messages
You can forward one or more messages from your Online Inbox, Online Sent Items, or Archive folder by using the following steps:
- Log in to the User Portal.
- Navigate to your Online Inbox, Online Sent Items, or Archive Folder.
- Select the message(s) you want to forward using the selection checkbox.
- Select Forward from the message preview.
- Enter the required recipients.
- Click on Send
The forwarding behavior depends on how many messages are selected:
| Selection | Result |
| Single message | A new messages is created with the original messages content in the body, and a copy of the original messages attached. |
| Multiple messages | A new messages is created with an empty body. Copies of all selected messages are attached. |
Checking Message Delivery Status
You can check the delivery status of messages you have sent by using the following steps:
- Log in to the User Portal.
- Navigate to your Online Sent Items folder.
- Click on the required message.
- Click on the Delivery Receipt Status drop-down.
- Delivery information is displayed for each recipient of the message.
