Who's affected All Email Security - MX-deployed customers who do not currently have CyberGraph or Advanced BEC Protection enabled.

Overview

Mimecast is pleased to announce the enabling of Social Graph as a baseline contextual signal across eligible Secure Email - MX customers. Social Graph builds a map of communication relationships within your organization, helping Mimecast more accurately identify messages from unknown or unusual senders and improve the detection of sophisticated email-borne threats.

This change is non-disruptive, requires no configuration changes by administrators or end users, and does not impact mail flow. It is also a foundational step toward the broader rollout of Multi-Vector Threat Protection (MVTP).

For details, see the full article Social Graph Activation FAQ.

  • Customers who have previously opted out of Social Graphing (existing opt-outs are honored; no new opt-outs are being accepted at this time).
  • Customers already using CyberGraph or Advanced BEC Protection (these customers already benefit from Social Graphing as part of those services).

What's Changing

  • Social Graphing is enabled by default for eligible Email Security MX-based customers (excluding those with CyberGraph or Advanced BEC Protection or who have opted out).
  • Multi Vector Threat Protection will activate in Monitor Mode shortly after Social Graphing is enabled, surfacing real detections in Analysis & Response with zero mail flow impact.
  • A new policy (“CyberGraph Learning Mode Default”) will appear in the CyberGraph Policies menu for each enabled customer.
  • This is not a rollout of CyberGraph or Advanced BEC Protection for all—those remain distinct, higher-tier capabilities.

If you have concerns about this change or would like to discuss your organization’s eligibility or opt-out options, please contact your Mimecast Account Management team, your Customer Success Manager (CSM), or Mimecast Support.
