GCI: Aware - Logging In After Migration

Overview

Following your Governance, Compliance, and Insights (GCI): Aware migration, access to GCI: Aware is managed through the Mimecast Identity login system. This article explains how to log in and how to manage user access going forward.

How to log in

Follow the steps below to access GCI: Aware after the Unified Login launch.

  1. Navigate to the Mimecast Administration Console in your browser. You will be presented with the Mimecast login page.
  2. Enter your email address and click Continue. You will be redirected to the Mimecast Identity login screen.
  3. Enter the same email address again on the Mimecast Identity screen and click Next.
  4. Enter your Mimecast Identity password. Note: this is your Mimecast Identity password, not your previous Aware password.

Your Mimecast Identity password is separate from the password you previously used to log in to Aware. If you are unsure of your Mimecast Identity password, use the password reset option on the login screen.

Considerations

Review the following scenarios to understand how login access applies to your organization.

Same email address used for Aware and Zendesk

If you currently use the same email address to log into both Aware and Zendesk, your user will be able to log into GCI: Aware after the Unified Login launch without any additional setup required.

Different email addresses used for Aware and Zendesk

If you currently use different email addresses for Aware and Zendesk, your GCI: Aware user will not be able to log in until that user has been created in Mimecast. See the section below on adding users through the Mimecast Administration Console.

Additional users who were added directly in Aware

If your organization has users who were added directly in Aware, those users will need to be re-added in Mimecast via the Mimecast Administration Console. To add a user, see Directories - Creating & Editing Users. Once created in Mimecast, users will be able to log in to GCI: Aware and will retain the same permissions they held previously.

Granting new users access to GCI: Aware

To grant a new user access to GCI: Aware, follow the process below:

  1. Create the user in the Mimecast Administration Console. See Directories - Creating & Editing Users.
  2. Assign the user a role that includes the GCI: Aware permission. This permission is located in the Archive menu when reviewing roles in the Mimecast Administration Console.
  3. Ask the user to access GCI: Aware for the first time using the direct login URL. This initial access creates the user's GCI: Aware account automatically.
  4. Once the account is created, administrators can assign Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) permissions as required. For guidance, see Aware - Role-Based Access Control Overview.

SSO configured accounts

SSO configured will need to reconfigure their IDP provider again with Mimecast. For full instructions, visit: Email Security - API - Authentication Profiles - Configure SSO Logins Using Azure Premium
