Aware - Claude Compliance API Connector

This article explains how to connect Mimecast's Governance, Compliance & Insights (GCI) platform to one or more Claude Enterprise Compliance API connectors. Setup is self-serve on both sides and requires action from two roles: the primary owner of the Claude Enterprise organization and a GCI Global Administrator.

Prerequisites

The following roles are needed, to complete this process:

  • The primary owner of the Claude Enterprise organization.
  • A Mimecast CGI Global Administrator.

Setting up the connector

Create a Compliance Access Key (Claude Enterprise)

You can create a Compliance Access Key by using the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Claude Enterprise admin console using the account designated as primary owner for your Claude Enterprise organization.
  2. Locate the Compliance API or API Keys section within the admin console.
  3. Generate a new key scoped specifically for compliance operations. This key is separate from standard Anthropic API keys, and carries only the permissions required for GCI integration.
  4. Note the Organization ID, which is visible in the admin console to Claude Administrators. Save both this ID and the Compliance Access Key securely, to share with the Mimecast CGI Global Administrator for use in configuring the connector.

Configure the connector in GCI (Mimecast)

You can configure the connector, by using the following steps:

  1. Log in to Aware.
  2. Navigate to System Settings | Integrations and select Add Connector.
  3. Locate Claude Enterprise in the available integrations list and begin configuration.
  4. Paste the Organization ID and Compliance Access Key provided by the primary owner of the Claude Enterprise organization, in the previous steps. For multi-organization deployments, repeat this step for each Claude Enterprise organization.
  5. Click on Validate and Save. GCI tests the connection using the supplied credentials. On success, the connector status updates to Active and ingestion begins.

Frequently asked questions

Q: How does a customer enable the connector?
A: Setup is self-serve on both sides. On the Claude side, the primary owner of the Claude Enterprise organization creates a Compliance Access Key with the appropriate scopes. On the Mimecast side, any GCI Global Administrator configures the connector using the Claude Organization ID and the Compliance Access Key provided by the primary owner.
Q: What authentication does the connector use?
A: The integration authenticates via a Compliance Access Key created by the primary owner of the Claude Enterprise organization.
