Overview
Mimecast is pleased to announce that Advanced BEC customers who do not currently have an active policy will have a default Monitor Mode policy automatically created on their behalf. This change ensures that all eligible customers immediately gain visibility into the business email compromise attacks targeting their organisation, without any disruption to mail flow.
What's changing
- Starting on May 29th 2026, all existing Advanced BEC customers without an active policy will have a Monitor Mode policy automatically created. Monitor Mode is purely informational, meaning no messages will be placed on hold or rejected as a result of this change. Administrators will be able to see BEC attacks targeting their users in real time, providing the visibility needed to understand risk exposure before taking further action. Mimecast recommends using this period to review detected threats and, when ready, transition to a Hold posture to actively intercept attacks before they reach your users.
Recommended actions
Administrators can create a Monitor Mode policy using the following Knowledge Base instructions:
Administrators are encouraged to review the detections surfaced by the new Monitor Mode policy within the Mimecast Administration Console. As this change is informational only, no immediate action is required. When ready, administrators can update the policy to a Hold posture for full protection. For guidance on configuring your Advanced BEC policy, see: Advanced BEC - Setup with Cybergraph.
