Overview
Mimecast is pleased to announce the first release of our Configuration Backup, Restore, and Export API endpoints.
What's changing
In response to customer feedback, this release represents Mimecast’s first step in offering customers protection of their Email Security Cloud Gateway configuration. By backing up key configuration elements, customers can protect their configuration against human error, roll back to a prior state, or export an offline record of the current configuration for audit and change control purposes. Customers can perform up to 24 backups of each data type per day, and each backup is retained for 90 days.
At this time, we are not providing options to restore from other sources or to use this capability to transfer configuration from one tenant to another. These are capabilities we may consider in the future if there is sufficient demand.
In this initial release, the scope of backup is restricted to only Managed Senders and Managed URLs. In the future, we intend to expand the scope to cover other aspects of configuration. This capability is available to all customers with the Email Security Cloud Gateway package.
This is an API-only release and uses our new API 2.0.
At this time, we do not plan to offer a UI for these capabilities.
