Web Security - Deprovisioning Mimecast Web Security from your Account

This article describes how you can deprovision Mimecast Web Security from your account, and is intended for use by Administrators.
This would be the case if, e.g. at the end of the product's trial period, you do not want to continue using the product.

Mimecast Security Agent Protected Devices

For devices with protection provided by the Mimecast Security Agent:

  1. Save the Mimecast Security Agent uninstaller password in a secure place (e.g. a password manager). See Managing MSA Settings.
The password is required to uninstall the Mimecast Security Agent, should you find it on a user's device after Mimecast Web Security has been deprovisioned from your account.
  2. Uninstall the Mimecast Security Agent from all endpoints. See the following guides for further information:
  1. Ensure there is no traffic from any of your devices in the Activity Report. See the Activity Report for further details.
  2. Delete the Authentication Key. See the Creating an Authentication Key section of Managing MSA Settings for details of how to delete the key. This immediately stops all Mimecast Security Agents associated with the account from functioning.

Network Protection

For network protection:

  1. Ensure you have the IP address for your new DNS service.
  2. Update your DNS forwarders to use your new DNS service.
  3. Verify there is no traffic from any devices on your protected networks in the Activity Report.
  4. Delete the location of your protected network in the Mimecast Administration Console. See Configuring Locations.
This immediately stops Mimecast Web Security from functioning on any protected network.
