Apple silicon support (M-series chips)

Overview

Incydr agents are supported on Macs with Apple Silicon chips (for example, M1, M2, M3). System requirements and additional details are listed below.

Version requirements

Insider risk agent: All versions are optimized for Apple Silicon support. For more details, see our system requirements.
Backup agent:
- macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 and later
- Agent version 8.5.0 and later

Considerations

In the Incydr console, the operating system version for Apple silicon devices may appear as macOS 10.16, instead of macOS 11. This is a display issue only.
Incydr agents are not supported on other devices with ARM-based architectures, such as the Raspberry Pi.
Apple Silicon devices are supported by all current Incydr agents, but compatibility details vary based on agent type and version.
- The insider risk agent is optimized for all Apple silicon devices. It does not use the Rosetta translation process.
- Backup agent:
  - Version 10.3.0 and later: Optimized for Apple silicon devices. It does not use the Rosetta translation process.
  - Versions 8.8.2 - 8.8.5: A separate installer optimized for Apple Silicon devices is available from the App Downloads screen in the Incydr console. The primary functions of the app do not use the Rosetta translation process.
  - Version 8.5.0 - 8.8.1: Rosetta 2 is required for backup agent compatibility with Apple Silicon devices. You may be prompted to install Rosetta 2 the first time you open the backup agent. In addition, devices may temporarily exhibit high CPU usage for several minutes after the device or the service is restarted.
- Incydr Gov:
  - The Mac - Apple Silicon processor app is not supported for the backup agent. To meet FedRAMP compliance requirements, Apple silicon devices running the backup agent must use the Intel processor version of the app with Rosetta 2.
