This article contains information on setting up Search & Discover for Email in Mimecast, including user creation, and Administrator permissions.
Overview
This Getting Started guide is designed to help you navigate the key steps for setting up Search & Discover for Email.
Prerequisites
- You have a Super Administrator role, for the Mimecast Administration Console.
Getting Started
To get started with Search & Discover for Email, please see the following steps:
- Log in to the Mimecast Administration Console.
- Create a new user. See Directories - Creating & Editing Users.
- Update permissions for the new user, to ensure they have Aware permissions. See the Prerequisites section of Archiving - Search & Discover for Email, and Archiving - Unified Login.
- The following roles have Aware permissions by default: Super Admin, Full Admin, Discovery Officer, Reviewer.
- You can also create a custom role with Aware permissions by ensuring that Enable Aware = Read.
- Log in to Aware.
- In the Mimecast Administration Console, navigate to Archive | Aware.
- Click on System Settings in the lower left corner.

Add the user in the Aware System Settings with appropriate RBAC permissions, etc. See:

Note that temporarily, users need to to log into Aware via the Administration Console, in order for them to show up in the Aware application to be assigned to roles, DAS, etc.
This is a known issue and will be resolved in February.
