The purpose of this guide is to explain how users can access the messages captured by a discovery case as The Reviewer. Additionally, it explains how to understand the application's hierarchy of information. Messages captured as part of a discovery case can be reviewed by Users assigned as reviewers.
Once you have logged in to the reviewer application, you can start to review a case's messages. These are displayed in a collapsible/expandable hierarchy on the left-hand side of the application. This is split into the following levels:
- Discovery cases
- Messages by status
Expanding / Collapsing the Hierarchy
To expand a level in the hierarchy:
- Click on the
icon for the required level.
To collapse a level in the hierarchy:
- Click on the
icon for the required level.
Accessing a Case Review's Messages
To access a Case eview's messages:
- Expand the Case Review in the hierarchy.
- Expand the Message Review level in the hierarchy. The messages are categorized by their status. See the Reviewing Messages page for further details.

- Pending: Lists all messages that have yet to be reviewed.
- Relevant: Lists all messages that have been reviewed, and marked as relevant to the Case Review.
- Not Relevant: Lists all messages that have been reviewed, and marked as not relevant to the Case Review.
- Privileged: Lists all messages that have been reviewed, and marked as potentially privileged communication. They must be held separately to be reviewed by another reviewer or outside counsel.
- Click on a Status. The messages are displayed.
Hiding / Displaying the Hierarchy
You can hide the hierarchy in the left-hand column, to let you concentrate on a particular case's messages. It can be displayed later if required.
To hide the hierarchy:
- Click on the
icon in the bottom left-hand corner.
To display the hierarchy:
- Click on the
icon in the bottom left-hand corner.
