This article contains information on configuring, customizing, and managing Nudges within Mimecast Engage, including their purpose, delivery methods, integration options, and user exclusion settings to enhance behavior-based communication.
| Q: | What is a Nudge? |
| A: | A nudge is a brief, timely message sent to employees based on their observed behaviors, whether positive or negative. Rooted in nudge theory, a concept from behavioral economics, these messages aim to effectively influence choices and actions. Training nudges help reinforce positive behaviors, correct risky actions, and foster a culture of learning. |
| Q: | Who can benefit from using Nudges? |
| A: | Any organization utilizing Engage can benefit from Nudges. They can be delivered via email, Slack or Microsoft Teams, empowering you to send tailored messages at the right moment, providing personalized context about user behavior. |
| Q: | How do Nudges work? |
| A: |
Nudges can be activated, deactivated, and configured within the Engage platform by accessing the Nudges menu. They are available by default for Simulated Phishing, Actual Phishing, and Training. You can opt to integrate third-party security tools to enable nudges for other behaviors, such as Malware or Sensitive Data Handling. When a nudge is enabled, a message will be sent to an end user when the behavior defined in the nudge rule is detected. Nudges can be delivered via email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams. |
| Q: |
Where can I see who will receive a nudge when enabled? |
| A: |
To view potential recipients of a nudge, navigate to the Human Risk Command Center within the Mimecast Administration Console. Under the Risk Response Engine menu, you’ll find Watchlists. Each watchlist corresponds to a nudge rule and shows every user who would receive the nudge if it were enabled. User groups can be excluded from receiving nudges via the nudge configuration page. |
| Q: | How do I configure integrations with Slack or Teams for nudges? |
| A: |
For detailed instructions on setting up integrations, see: |
| Q: | Can nudges be customized? |
| A: | Yes, nudges can be fully customized to suit your organization’s needs. Currently, all out-of-the-box templates are available only in English. If you wish to translate the messages during customization, you may do so, but please note that Mimecast does not currently provide translated nudge templates. |
| Q: | Can I reply to a Nudge? |
| A: | Currently, nudges are a one-way communication from Engage to the user, delivered through email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams. Users cannot interact with nudges. |
| Q: | How can I access Nudges? |
| A: | Nudges are integrated within Engage. You can access, configure, and customize them through the Nudge menu located in the left-hand menu of Engage. |
| Q: | Can I exclude certain users from receiving Nudges? |
| A: | Yes, Engage provides an exclusion mechanism for each nudge rule, allowing you to specify which user groups should not receive certain nudges. |
