Mimecast Synchronization Engine - Mailbox Permissions Sync

This article contains information on creating a Permissions Sync Definition in Mimecast, including steps for synchronization, accessing delegate mailboxes via end-user applications, and troubleshooting common issues with Permissions Sync tasks.

Creating a Permissions Sync Definition

To create a Permissions Sync Definition:

  1. Log in to the Mimecast Administration Console.

Administrators must have the Super Administrator role. Users with lesser permissions will not see the delegate access dialogs.

  1. Navigate to the Services | Exchange Services menu item.
  2. Click on the New Exchange Task menu option button.
  3. Select the Synchronization Engine Sites.
  4. Select your existing sync Schedule from the drop-down menu item or click the Create New button to create a new schedule.
  5. From the Task Type drop-down menu item, select Mailbox Permissions Sync.
  6. Within the Select Group section, select the lookup method to locate and identify the user(s) whose mailbox permissions you wish to have synchronized with the Exchange server.
  7. Click Save & Exit.

You can view the status of your scheduled task in the Administration Console. See the Monitoring Exchange Tasks article for full details. Once your scheduled task has successfully synchronized mailbox permissions, you can view the results using the Administration Console or any of our end-user applications (e.g., Mimecast Personal Portal or Mimecast for Outlook).
